Follow-up of participants in the DATURA trial was completed in November 2025. The last visits took place on October 30 in Guinea, November 3 in Mozambique, November 5 in Cameroon and Uganda, November 10 in Cambodia, and November 12 in Zambia.
All sites are preparing to close, a process that involves informing national authorities that the trial has ended.
In Uganda, as is tradition at Mbarara-Epicentre, a ceremony was held during the final monitoring visit, with each team member receiving a certificate of participation and a cake being cut to mark the end of the trial.
Next steps
A joint meeting of the Project Steering Committee and the Data and Safety Monitoring Board is scheduled for 27 and 28 April in Montpellier, France. The meeting will provide an opportunity to present all the trial results and discuss the plan for disseminating and promoting these results.
