Study nurses will be trained in therapeutic education and adherence support counselling.
Adherence to anti-TB drugs and ART will be assessed in each trial visit by a self-questionnaire for intakes, drug accountability for anti-TB drugs and ART during the intervention phase, as well as anti-TB drugs intake reports from the domiciliary treatment monitors. In collaboration with the patient, these monitors will be chosen from among patient’s relatives or members of specific community-based organizations and will benefit from a dedicated training session about the importance of adherence and the way to report a patient’s drug intake from day to day.
Should adherence issues be detected, dedicated specific counselling will be delivered by study nurses.
